This past Thursday and Friday I had a table at the event Artist in the Atrium. It is a fantastic event that has live music and aboriginal dancers and tables for aboriginal artist to sell their art. Screen Printing T-Shirts

Last update on Aug. 18, 2013.

I have always loved learning how things are made and screen printing is one of those things I've been wanting to learn for a while now. I did my research on youtube and some library books and jumped in. Now I'm hooked on screen printing. I love the idea of putting messages on tees and walking around with a great message. Think about how many ads people see in one day and how much of it is garbage, now think about wearing a message as an ad that does some real good. That's how I ...

It is a very very special day indeed. I am so grateful to everyone that made this day possible. Harvesting Cedar

Last update on July 1, 2013.

Harvesting Cedar

Today I was taught how to harvest cedar for weaving. I am so incredibly happy to be learning how to weave cedar which is a traditional art form of my Sto:lo ancestry. I spent the day hiking through the lush green forest hugging cedars to see if they're old enough for harvest and giving thanks for the harvest. It was hard work but incredibly rewarding. I felt so at peace while I worked, taking in the sights and sounds around me. I am so grateful to be learning weaving in a hands on traditional style.

Learning to Carve Red Cedar

Learning to Carve Red Cedar

Yesterday I attended a wood carving class with my classmate from NEC, Frank Wilson at the church on Penticton and Franklin Street. I received a block of red cedar to carve and instruction on how to get started from Rupert and Alfred Scowe. There were also tools there for me to use until my tools are sharpened and ready to use. First we figured out what side of my block would be the bottom based on the grain of the wood, then using my planer blade I levelled it out so that it sat flat and flush with the table ...

NEC Awards Gala 2013

Last night I attended the Native Education Colleges(NEC) Gala and was a representative for the Northwest Coast Jewellery Arts Progarm(NCJA). I was happy to come and demonstrate my craft and I love meeting people and sharing my passion. After an hour of showcasing the NCJA Program it was on to the main event in the beautiful NEC entrance and lobby. The welcoming song by Jeff Dan, Musqueam Nation set the stage for the rest of the evening. It was heart warming to hear about all the award recipients and their stories. I really connected to a lot of ...

Mothers Day

My mother is an inspiration to me, and I really look up to her. She is so artistic and creative, growing up she always encouraged me to be creative as well. Whether it was helping me with school projects or teaching me how to sew she was always happy to help and give guidance. It's from this creative nest my mother nurtured me in, that I grew a love for the arts. I am so thankful for my momma bear and everything she has done for me and continues to do.

I have been working on this Charm Bracelet ...

I am so happy to have my website up and running. YAY!!!! I love the simplicity and ease of use of this website, from adding products and blog posts to navigating and following purchases. Big Thanks to my hubby Martin for putting this all together for me. This is just the first step, I still need to add all my items and take more product shots. I've been doing a lot of research that has really helped me understand whats involved and needed to run a successful jewellery business. There's so much to do but I'm loving ...
